Anna University Faculty Development Training Programme on Strength of Materials

Programme objective:

* To train the participants in the concept of deformation of solids, load, stresses and deflection of various structural / machine elements as well as analysis of stresses in two dimensions

* To introduce the subject with numerous examples in order to have better and in depth knowledge.

* To develop theoretical and analytical skills

Course Coverage

The following topics will be covered:

 Introduction to stress, strain and deformation of solids

 Bending of beams and stress distributions

 Torsion on circular shafts,

 Analysis and design of helical springs

 Deflection of beams

 Theory of columns

 Thin shells and biaxial state of stress

 Strain energy

Registration fee:

There is no course fee for the training programme. The number of participants is restricted to 20 only. Participants are selected on first come first serve basis and will be intimated through e-mail. No T.A and D.A will be given.
